On April 16, 2012 I had the privilege to attend Oprah’s Lifeclass Tour in Toronto, Canada. It was a life changing experience, as I was able to hear teachings from extraordinary individuals. There were four keynote speakers at the Lifeclass show who shared their ideas, beliefs and personal stories: Bishop T.D Jakes, Iyanla Vanzant, Deepak Chopra and Anthony Robbins. I would like to share what I learned on that remarkable day!
Opera Winfrey
Opera Winfrey is simply an angel, her inner light, charisma and desire to help individuals is an inspiration for us all. She created a legacy with her television program that millions watched worldwide. The Lifeclass show on the OWN network illustrates her innate desire for spreading love, compassion, faith and miracles.
I don't think you ever stop giving. I really don't. I think it's an on-going process. And it's not just about being able to write a cheque. It's being able to touch somebody's life
— Oprah Winfrey
Bishop T.D Jakes
Bishop T.D Jakes walked onto the stage and you could feel his energy radiate through the audience. He spoke about a parable with regards to Gallons vs. Pints. He said that, as individuals, we need to be surrounded by others who encourage, inspire and lift us up. He called these people gallons. Pints on the other hand, are people who radiate negative frequencies, often complain and serve no purpose in our lives. These types of people are known as pints, people who literally can bring a cloud into your sunny day. I thought this was such an interesting way to look at relationships in our life and decipher who really is worth spending your time with.
If you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.
— T.D. Jakes
Iyanla Vanzant
One word describes Iyanla Vanzant, and that is strength. Iyanla is a soul survivor. Through faith, she overcame obstacles that changed her life. She stated the following during Lifeclass: A vision will pull you forward. I interpreted this to mean that we should keep our dreams in the forefront and live our passions now! She also reflected on the importance of listening to your inner voice for seeking guidance. That inner voice is your truth; listen to it whenever you are looking for answers.
Be still and listen for the instruction instead of asking for the direction.
— lyanla Vanzant
Deepak Chopra
Deepak Chopra’s message was peaceful and resonated in the heart. He explained that the seeds of change and expansion are planted within us. Each problem we encounter has a spiritual lesson. Anything that is an obstacle is an unforeseen opportunity. That statement is so profound, as each obstacle is a chance for transformation. Deepak also discussed how the space between our thoughts is our soul, and how are soul mirrors the energy in the universe. The more we are aligned with our souls, the more life flows effortlessly and miracles begin to occur.
The most creative act you will ever undertake is the act of creating yourself.
— Deepak Chopra
Anthony Robbins
Anthony Robbins message was truly engaging. He had the audience dancing and uplifted within minutes! His energy was magnetic as his powerful voice radiated above the crowd. Here are five significant ideas that he stated:
1. Fear enables us.
2. Love is the oxygen for the soul.
3. Do something that makes you significant.
4. Get over your anger.
5. Get passed the limitations of your story.

The first concept he discussed “fear”, is truly debilitating. Once we give in to our ego and negative thinking, we allow fear to control us and that is not beneficial for our growth. Aligning oneself with love always keeps us aligned with our true spirit. Moving past the limitations of our personal story is stepping forward into a new chapter in life. When we change our story and accept the past, all things really do come full circle.
I've come to believe that all my past failures and frustration were actually laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of living I now enjoy.
--Anthony Robbins
I truly hope that one day every individual is able to attend Oprah’s Lifeclass. I’m grateful that I had the chance to be surrounded by such enlightened souls.
