Nithya Kriyas
What they are and how they help to heal disease and disorders.
Nithya Kriyas* are a series of yogic healing processes revealed by Paramahamsa Nithyananda, founder of Nithya Yoga**. These processes include various combinations of body postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), visualizations, chanting, as well as other techniques all referenced in ancient yogic scriptures. When performed in a precise combination, as revealed by Paramahamsa Nithyananda, they allow the body to heal itself from various disturbances, disorders and diseases, ranging from diabetes to migraine headaches to depression, and more.
In order to experience optimal health, the energy in the body must flow freely through the body's energy circuit. The energy circuit is governed by Kundalini energy, the innate potential energy of the body, which helps complete the energy circuit. When the flow of energy is blocked in a specific area, the body will feel a disturbance, which manifests as some type of disease or disorder in that particular area. Nithya Kriyas remove the energy blockages from the body and pump back energy (kundalini) to restore the flow in the energy circuit, allowing the body to heal. For a more detailed explanation by Paramahamsa Nithyananda himself, watch the following youtube clip:
I have worked, daily, with various Nithya Kriyas and observed the effects on my body since 2012. I started with the Nithya Kriya Care for Anger*** out of urgency. It was the first week of January 2012 and I felt like I was going to explode! Worse, I was afraid that the energy would have nowhere to go and it would just keep building up and being mirrored by the events and people around me. After a couple of days of experiencing maddening chaos, I had enough and decided to practice the Nithya Kriya Care for Anger. What a sweet relief! I instantly felt the effects of the kriya. Before the practice, I felt a huge heaviness and build up in my shoulders and neck. When I performed the required asanas and held their positions, it felt as if the energy was being pulled out of my shoulders and the heaviness I once felt was lifted. Emotionally, I felt clear and free. I went from being emotionally numb and not even realizing I had been angry for days; to feeling like I was going to explode and in pain mentally, physically and emotionally; to being able to sit with anger, understand why it was there and feel relieved and then laugh at myself as I realized it's all just energy!
In 2013, I tested out the effects of the Thyroid Care and Cure Kriyas in my body. The associated feelings and emotional reactions that were relieved and pulled out were judgment, self-doubt, confusion, anxiety, paranoia, fear of expression due to judgment and punishment, and the sense of being overwhelmed - all deeply suppressed feelings. The intensity of the feelings only lasted for a couple of days and as they dissolved a feeling of lightness and clarity was experienced.
In the fall of 2014, I revisited the Thyroid Kriyas again. I observed that I was a lot clearer than in 2013, as the experience of emotional build up was not as intense. This time, as I began the kriya, the feeling of judgment was present as well as a scratchy throat, upon waking up, as if on the verge of a cold. After completing the kriya, first thing in the morning, the cold-like symptoms were relieved. I felt a coolness and lightness in my throat, shoulders and mid back. The feeling of judgment dissolved and all that was left was a feeling of clarity for what is and what I wanted to expand in my life.
Recently, I have been sharing the Care for Migraine Headache and have also found success with this for myself and others. From my observations, these kriyas are a powerful tool for removing blockages and restoring energy flow. Experientially this is felt physically, mentally and emotionally. As a result of the energy flow being restored, there is more space to keep living authentically; taking on more responsibility for life in and around me; connecting with what is; and continuing to expand my life with purpose as I enrich myself and others.
There are 108 Nithya Kriyas. If you are interested in learning more check out the links below as well as the variety of Nithya Kriyas available on-line for free. If you'd like some guidance, check out your local Nithyananda Vedic temple or Nithya yoga teacher to support you in the process.
