A Message from Violet
Seasons Greetings CYA Members! Unite in Yoga!!
We are nearing the end of 2015 and I have to step back and take a deep breath; so much has happened this past year that it makes my head spin! I wonder what is in store for us in 2016? Time is (un) zipping so quickly; there seems to be so much going on in the world that I can’t keep up. In this article, I hope not to bore you too much with a little talk about what we can give each other, this Christ-mass, beyond the material. You will read a bit about ‘time and concrescence’ as reflected by Terence McKenna; a word on our new ‘good looking’ Prime Minister; the environmental talks in Paris; and how Karma and Deep Mind influence everything that is.
|
Terence McKenna was one of the most brilliant minds on the planet. He passed away in 2000 leaving a legacy of genius- books, lectures and Botanical Dimensions in Hawaii. He also worked for the CIA since, as he said, he had no choice; it was the CIA or the highway.
I have saturated my mind with his lectures, found easily enough on you-tube, and found myself especially fascinated by his work on the I CHING. Terence is the only Human Being on the planet to decipher this ancient divinatory system and from it he created a software program called Timewave Zero.
|
He told how the I CHING’s 64-hexagram divination correlates to modern physics and could be translated as markers of novelty events in time, giving us insight into the past, present and future. Essentially, if you listen to the videos, to which I have linked, (some of the many available on McKenna), you will get a clearer insight into events happening, in time, through this perspective.
The 2012 marker was the date that Terence believed to be the beginning of a concrescence. This growth rate and condensing, he claimed, will be compressed, as never before, after the 2012 marker. He stated that this next phase would experience unprecedented events some of which will be technological, environmental and political. Everyday, when I listen to the news there are events happening that seem to be impacting the entire world. Technology, politics, environment and yes, that nasty word terrorism programmed into our psyches, always prepping us for the next strike.
Another fellow, you may want to research, who talks about time speeding up exponentially and eventually technology surpassing Human intelligence is
Ray Kurzweil.
Ray Kurzweil.
I recommend inviting these two men into your living room, via you-tube, to better understand what is happening at this pivotal point in Human history. Being aware of the nature of reality, and what is apparent in the world today regarding massive global events, will help some of us along the transpersonal path and beyond. I am sure, Terence (to some or many perhaps) may be a controversial character because of the means he used to achieve deep mind exploration. However, consider that the Great Soma, spoken of so extensively in the Vedic literature, is what Terence explored. He, then, so lovingly shared his discoveries with the intellectual world. Remember, we do not worship or slay the messenger; we listen to the message and, hopefully, gain insight from those messages
And, Ray Kurzweil, another brilliant mind, simply ticks me off because I am not interested in a world of machines—a matrix. However, his ideas do not fall into the bin of ridiculous and have true scientific merit. From a technological perspective, I can see that what he is talking about could very well happen. Perhaps he and McKenna both have truth in their statements about time; however, one explores the inner-mind, time-machine while the other is exploring and predicting the exterior world of artificial mind with which we are on a head-on collision. I believe that the choice is either an inner exploration of the subtle realms of creation and transcendence or movement towards a non-spiritual machine world where Humanity will cease to exist.
This past year, we elected a new Prime Minister— young, charismatic, intelligent— son of a former Prime Minister, with great hair and sunny times to come. He has appointed a young, balanced cabinet and it looks as though Canada may be in for some changes. How this impacts us, we have yet to see. Personally, I am happy about Justin Trudeau and the new policies he’s put forth, including Canada’s acceptance of 25,000 Syrian refugees. And, I am very impressed that his wife, Sophie, is a yogini. Ah, the times may be changing, as yoga, once upon a time, was solely a male practice. Today, Canada’s Prime Minister has a yogini wife. Perhaps, The Sacred Feminine is on a resurgent upswing and we will again find balance between the Sacred Masculine and the Sacred Feminine. From what I see, in the picture from Vogue magazine, Mr. Trudeau is not afraid to embrace his Sacred Feminine.
The Global environmental discussion, in Paris, was another big event this year. From what I understand, we are at a pivotal position, a crossroads; we can go one way or the other. Surprisingly, CBC states that most Canadians (55%) feel that climate change will not hurt them and 1 out of 6 deny that there even is such a thing. Yet the surveys taken about future climate impact state that over 55% of Canadians believe that future generations will be affected. We’re not so concerned about it today; yet admit that our kids will be affected. How can we allow ourselves to be so careless with the life of the innocent that we will not disrupt our programmed addictions?
I can only state what I see, and I clearly see that the world’s weather is extreme and even harmful in some areas. When I was young, I used to sit and wonder where all the garbage went, where all the poop went, where all the emissions from cars went, and I would lay in bed at night and worry about the Earth and her animals. Today, many years later, this issue seems to be the biggest discussion in the world.
As yogis, I believe that Karma is not only individual (cause & effect), it is global, and our policies of burning coal and fossil fuels, of creating plastics; the drive for materialism and the lack of ‘care’ for our earth, our people, our animals, our own spiritual selves, results in the world you and I see and breathe. Everyday, we are programmed to accept fighting, war, a polluted environment, refugees displaced by political and natural disasters, terrorism (the word of the century). All this is a result of what we Humans have created and allowed. You and I are responsible for the world we live in. Collectively, we all co-create this place, consciousness creates matter and mainstream science is now in agreement on this theory. Care not to care? The matrix may look good to some; however, for myself, I much prefer clean air, water, pure food and the Garden of Eden on Earth, not Mars.
To get a feel for what happened in Paris you might care to listen to this 18-minute interview, by Anna Maria Tremonti of CBC’s The Current, of Elizabeth May (Leader of the Green Party) and Naomi Klein (award winning author). Btw, the Paris talks did not reach a global consensus of a maximum two-degree increase as recommended by the world’s top scientists.
Here’s a great movie on the future, Earth 2100. Not pretty, but you’ll get the picture of what’s to come if Humans don’t take responsibility for our Earth home.
Summing up, I believe we can and will wake up to Becoming. To realize the potentiality (potanjali) of the Human Mind and consciousness is to explore further the deep inner selves.
Meditate, do yoga, float, awaken to the truth of the Universe within. We unite in Truth. We have the answers within us. We can make changes in the year(s) to come by Becoming, by knowing the truth of our existence. Yoga gives us the answers and together We Unite! Together, we will alter destiny and the path our Human Family is on. This magic to be co-creators is within you; we have only to find the key to unlock the answers needed to solve all of the world’s issues. You are not your clothes. You are not the toys & entertainment given to distract you. You are not your Facebook profile, your cell phone, your car, your house, your body, your brain, your uniform or your gun. You, I, them, and us, are all One. We work together as co-creators.
There is no blame, no guilt, no finger pointing. We start by caring and through caring become generators of manifestation. This Christmas, think about your family as they truly are, for they are you, children are us, and the future is theirs.
I think the greatest gift we can give to each other, this season, is a discussion of the changes we make in our intimate lives, the promise within to journey deeper into the inner world of our minds and consciousness, and to learn the true teachings of yoga. Transcending Self does not mean we give up on the material world, it means, we re-create it— and we must accept what we have done in the past, forgive ourselves, our parents, our neighbors, our leaders, and our enemies. A new tomorrow exists in your mind and, every other mind around you.
